Lake District, Waswater

07/08/2011

Hayley and I just spent a week camping in the Lake District, quickly becoming my favourite national park in the  UK. We camped at the Wasdale National Trust campsite. A great site with top facilities.

Wasdale has a unique maze system of stone walls that wind through the valley. To the middle of the shot is Great Gable that stands at 899 meter, covered by rain clouds as it was most of the week.

A view of Scafell Pike over Wast water lake.

Scafell pike and Sca fell to the right with Great Gable in the distance to the left. Sun set is coming and at this stage I was just hoping for some colour in the sky.

The colour arrived and lit up Sca fell and Scafell pike nicely.

Cottage ruins with Kirk fell covered in rain clouds.

Cairn Castle followed by Sca Fell.

Burnmoor Lodge.
Before the 6 km hike to this lodge we ask the park ranger what the lodge was and why it was there. His response " It's owned by a crazy German cult, that use it once a year for some ceremony thing."

Well it turns out that it's owned by an English family and they use it for holidays every now and then. We learnt this as the family member was up there with some mates for a week. He spoke with a thick English accent and was clearly not German.

Someone was giving us the wrong information!

Movement

Over my holidays I will be doing a different project a week. Not sure what they are all going to be yet so if you have any ideas give us a shout.

The first one was this week and I picked the topic Movement. In each photo I have tried to capture an element of movement.

Timperley Lacrosse Bike ride to Abersoch (Wales)

Mid June the Timperley Lacrosse Club had a fundraising bike ride to Abersoch in Wales. The team consisted of members from all sections of the club, juniors, senior men's and senior women's who all completed the 150km ride over two days.

Day one took us through the small farm lanes of Cheshire and across the border into Bala, North Wales.

Day two saw us ride into Snowdonia National park, which is home to Wales highest peak, Mt Snowdon. The riding was much harder on this morning as they had to scale to the heights of the Snowdonia region.  A morning where I was  glad of my role as trip photographer and  driver of the support vehicle! Having said this, the team was rewarded with some 20 kms down hill and a beer or 12 at the end of the day!

A big well done to all the team members and I hope the saddle sores have healed.

Enjoy the pics!!!!!
